Community Guidelines
Effective date: The date these guidelines are first published at gukkit.com/guidelines.
Gukkit is the weird corner of the internet where everyone starts anonymous and earns their name. Anonymity is a gift, not a mask: it means your posts are your reputation. These guidelines keep the corner weird in the good way. They are part of our Terms of Service, so violating them can get your content removed or your account restricted.
The one rule underneath all the rules
Do not use someone else's anonymity, or your own, to make Gukkit worse for anyone else.
What is not allowed
- Harassment and bullying. Targeting a person or group with abuse, threats, pile-ons, or repeated unwanted contact. Disagreeing is fine. Hunting someone across lenses, DMs, rooms, and ceremonies is not.
- Hate. Content that attacks or demeans people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, or similar characteristics. Criticize ideas all day; do not dehumanize people.
- Violence and threats. Threats of violence, encouragement of self-harm, or graphic gore. If you are struggling, please reach out to local crisis resources. Gukkit is not a substitute for help. Where we judge there is an imminent threat, we may act on it, including contacting emergency services or law enforcement.
- Sexual content involving minors. Zero tolerance. Any sexual content involving anyone under 18 is prohibited, will be removed, the account terminated, and the matter reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and law enforcement. See our Child Safety Standards.
- Non-consensual intimate content. Posting intimate images or details of someone without their consent is prohibited, full stop.
- Illegal content. Anything illegal where you are: fraud, phishing, malware, drug sales, weapons sales, and similar. We cooperate with lawful orders.
- Spam and scams. Bulk junk, crypto schemes, fake giveaways, impersonation for profit, and deceptive links.
- Impersonation. Pretending to be another user, a public figure, or Gukkit staff. Parody is allowed only if it cannot reasonably confuse anyone.
- Privacy violations. Posting someone's real name, address, phone number, workplace, or other identifying details without consent (doxxing). Remember: Gukkit identities are anonymous by design. Do not try to unmask people, and do not pressure anyone to reveal who they are.
- Copyright and trademark infringement. Do not post content you do not have the right to post. See our Copyright Policy for how to report infringement.
- Ceremony and star manipulation. Buying or selling stars, Super Stars, votes, or names. Running multiple accounts to sway a ceremony, inflate a count, or farm gift Super Star chains. Offering anything of value for a name, a vote, or a pass. Names and stars are earned, never bought.
- Evading enforcement. Making a new account, room, or venue to dodge a suspension, block, mute, or closure.
Ceremony conduct
Naming ceremonies are the heart of Gukkit, so they get their own standard:
- Proposals are capped at 20 characters and pass through a profanity filter. The filter is a floor, not a ceiling: a cruel name that slips past it is still a violation.
- Cruel, mocking, harassing, or hateful proposals will be removed, and the proposer faces enforcement.
- The subject's veto is absolute and needs no explanation. Respect it. Complaining about someone's veto in posts, DMs, or rooms is harassment.
- Do not campaign against a subject's choice to decline naming. "Anon by choice" is an honored status here.
Rooms, venues, and the Huddle
- Room names, room topics, pinned welcome lines, and venue names are content. Every rule above applies to them.
- A room or venue may not be created or used to organize harassment, pile-ons, or evasion. The host is responsible for the room they run; a host who uses a venue to gather people for abuse loses it.
- Huddle answers are posts. The same rules apply, including the manipulation rules: do not coordinate to inflate an answer's stars.
- Do not use rooms to move harmful activity off the public surface. Private is not a loophole. Reports from inside a room carry the same weight as reports anywhere else.
Direct messages
- Strangers' DMs land in Message Requests for a reason. Do not try to route around it.
- Unwanted sexual messages, threats, or harassment in DMs are treated the same as public violations, and are often worse because they are targeted.
- Screenshots of private DMs posted publicly to shame someone may themselves violate the harassment rule, depending on context.
- DMs are not end-to-end encrypted. Conduct yourself accordingly.
Reporting, blocking, muting
- Report posts, comments, DMs, rooms, venues, and ceremony proposals that break these guidelines. Reports go to our moderation queue.
- We review reports at our discretion, in the order and manner we judge appropriate. We do not promise to review every report, to act on any particular report, to respond to the reporter, or to meet any timeline, except where the law requires otherwise. Child safety reports are given priority handling as described in our Child Safety Standards.
- Block anyone. Blocking severs everything: stars, quotes, comments, proposals, votes, follows, room contact, and DMs. They cannot see you and cannot reach you.
- Mute and word filters let you curate your own experience without confrontation.
- False or bad-faith reporting is itself a violation.
Enforcement
Enforcement is our decision, made in our sole discretion. When we find a violation, we may remove content, warn, restrict features, suspend, or permanently terminate, in any order, or skip steps, or take no action at all. Illegal content and safety emergencies are handled first. We are not required to explain an enforcement decision, and enforcement decisions are final. If we provide a way to contact us about a decision, it is a courtesy, creates no duty, and does not change the decision's finality.
A note on the profanity filter
The filter catches the obvious stuff so ceremonies stay clean. It does not define what is allowed. Context matters, and our judgment on context is final.
Changes
We may update these guidelines at any time. The current version always lives at gukkit.com/guidelines, and material changes are announced as described in our Terms of Service.
